Camping

Kristin had never been camping so, Kendra and I took it upon ourselves to take her camping for her first time.

We went to Moraine View State Park. It's only about an hour away from here. We got there Thursday evening and set up camp. We made pizza and cookies over the fire for supper and sat on the dock and watched a storm roll in. It was beautiful with the sunset and a double rainbow.

Friday morning after breakfast we packed up and headed to the beach. It was once again a beautiful day and we all got burnt.

Its been a while since I've been camping but I still love it. :)

Vacation 26

Last week was Wyss Vacation to Kentucky! :) It was a blast. As usual.

We spent a wonderful amount of time boating, eating, playing games, talking, swimming and all sorts of other wonderfully lazy activities.
little cheese face :)

beautiful weather for boating!

Knee-boarding

tubing

at one point we managed to get 6 of us on a tube.
I think this picture only has five though

supper. a week of tons of wonderful food  :)

the beach and the dock from the cabins

After boating, knee-boarding, tubing, and wake-boarding we were all incredibly sore and tired. But, that didn't stop us from late nights and eating, eating, eating. :)
Most of the ladies went antiquing quite regularly and it was great fun watching them show off their finds. The men did not seem to be impressed by the Swanky Swig glasses or the planter shaped like a duck but, they were such great bargains and would look just perfect in this or that room of the house that they could not pass them by.

Throughout the week I was reminded what a blessing it is to have such a close family. I am so thankful that my grandparents make the effort every year to bring us all together. It was a wonderful week.

midweek trip

catch up:
Lena was here last weekend so, Steve's came over for a visit. There was a miscommunication and after an hour of waiting we realized we had the wrong day. We ate our pizza alone and then they did come over for dessert and a rousing game of Bang.

Sunday was the Sunday School Picnic. It was hot as usual. I'm not really a big fan but it's always fun to watch the water fights.

Anyway.... At the beginning of the summer I decided that I was going to visit all of my married friends. I finally started that this week. On Tuesday, I went out to Bluffton to visit Breana and Vince. And to make the trip even more worthwhile I stopped in Leo first.

Kacie and I took naps in the hammock, Alyssa showed me her apartment, we made coffee ice-cream milkshakes, watched the sunset, and went antiquing.

The pool was empty-they are painting it blue.

I love old hats.

In Bluffton, Breana took me swimming in a farm pond and then we picked sweetcorn for supper. She's turned into such a cute farm wife and she's loving it. There house is gorgeous and old. :) I finally got to know Vince a little, I hadn't met him before their reception this winter.
Breana and I stayed up decently late (for Indiana time) chatting and looking through pictures.

sigh. :) It was such a wonderful two days. I wish I could do it every week. It was such a nice break from bean walking.

The Fourth

Happy Independence Day!

Tonight Bob, Jenny, and Cecily came over for supper and then we watched fireworks at Ron and Kary’s. I love fireworks but, as I get older they aren’t as exciting as I remember them being.
Little miss is the center of attention

Beautiful firework

Cecily is excited!

This week has been ridiculously hot. Just look at the forecast in the newspaper. Instead of clouds or a sun, it says HOT. We are in the dead of summer.

I’ve been walking beans in the morning and watering pigs in the afternoon.  Carli and I finally finished one bean field.  It was so hot, sweaty, and miserable. (It builds character though! Right?) This year was the first year I’ve walked beans and wasn’t soaked from the waist down in dew and aphid juice. So, I guess that’s a plus.

Monday evening a group of us went mini-golfing.  Once again, I’m really challenged at mini-golf but, I didn’t lose.

Kendra, Kristin and I hung out at Kendra’s afterword. A storm was rolling in and it was so beautiful out with the lightning in the distance and a full moon.

Despite the heat, this is what summer was meant to be. :)
