Busyness of August

A couple weeks ago Kacie came out for a few days. Which was great. We managed to hang out for a while even though we were busy with other things. 

Grandma celebrated her 87th birthday this month. So we got together for Pizza Ranch and cake at my parents house. 

Kacie had never been up the grain leg, so a few of us went for a climb.

My garden continues to go crazy.  :) our water melon plant produced some lovely watermelon.

Saturday, the 15th, we went to Haley's wedding. Haley is one of my wonderful friends from high school and church.  

Her wedding was lovely, as suspected. :) and, we got to spend the reception sitting with the rest of our friends. Since we rarely see each other any more, it was a wonderful time to catch up and good off:) Katy and I may have sung along with Frank Sinatra and Elvis :) no worries there weren't too many people around anymore.

The other night, I went over to the farm and did peaches. I'm looking forward to having plenty for the winter. :)

They other day at work, while returning my client to his house, I saw this.

The picture doesn't do it justice. There were five cop cars, lights flashing, police officers everywhere, and tons of people standing back and watching.

I had a mini heart attack. Yeah. My first thought was "no, no, not one of my clients. My client had better not have just gotten shot." 

You know you work with a tough population in a rough area when that is your first thought. Thankfully, it was not my client and no one got shot.

It was just a fight.

This past weekend, Nathan and I spent most of it with his family. 

Some of the siblings came Friday night and spent the night. Saturday afternoon, we drove out to p-ville and spent the rest of the day there.

six flags

This week at work was crazy.  I worked extra hours almost every day. 

Tuesday though, I'm not sure you would call it work or fun. :). I got the opportunity to be a chaperone for my clients at Six Flags. 

A few of my coworkers went too. Once we got to the park, the clients ditched us, so we had the whole day to ride roller coasters. It was great. 

I did not go on this one. I was too scared.

I didn't get home until 11:00 that night. 

It was pretty exhausting.

It was fun. I had some good conversations with my clients and coworkers on the drive and I think I earned a little more respect from some of the clients. They were surprised I would ride roller coasters at all:) I showed them this farm girl isn't scared of much. ( even if I scream the whole time)

Martin vacation

Friday, Nathan and I left after work for Kentucky.  The extended Martin family  gets together for a long weekend every two years.  This year them met at lighthouse point, Kentucky lake. 

We arrived late Friday night and spent Saturday and Sunday there.

Saturday morning breakfast was from 8:00-9:30. The Martin aunts rented two pontoon boats so from 9:30-11:30, 11:30-2:30, and from 2:30-5:15, shifts of people went boating. We got the 11:30-2:30 shift.

It was fun but more of a relaxing ride across the lake than I'm used to. :)

Nathan and I went in search of ice cream after we went back to the resort and cleaned up.

It's not too hard to find ice cream :) 

Patty's Settlement was right across the road and they have pretty good ice cream.  

Supper was at 6:00 sharp and the rest of the evening was games and relaxing.

Sunday, we had church in the meeting room.

In the afternoon a group of us went to the public beach. Uncle Jim rented a jet ski and I took it out for a bit with Anna.

Nathan and I agreed that there is a difference between organized chaos and chaotic organization. :)  The Martin vacation is chaotic organization. Hehe. It was fun. The aunts do a great job of planning things but then it's like herding cats to get everyone at the right place at the right time.  You just have to sit back and watch. :)

We left around 5:00 Sunday evening and made it home around 10:00. 

It was a short but sweet weekend. :)
