Blah...
school...
I don't have much homework, yet, but it's coming.
Yesterday, I woke up with a fever and spent most of my day over 100. Today I'm perfectly fine-ish. :P. I'm exhausted.
I have another application I should be filling out...but procrastination reigns.
So, long ago I ordered my school books online. Two of the four came the next week. One of the books that didn't come was for my online class. I needed it. So, after checking and finding that my book still was not shipped, and I hadn't received any emails, I gave up and went to the ICC bookstore. That was yesterday. Today guess what came in the mail. Arg!
oh, well. such is life.

Taffy and such
so...I made taffy for our taffy-pull tonight. And It pulled! Really well! Yay.
I'm so excited. I don't even like taffy :).
oh. and just in case you haven't noticed It. is. freezing. Welcome to marshmallows season, when the only way to stay warm is to go out looking like an overstuffed teddy bear. That plus the scarf that makes me look Muslim and the practical ear muffs...yah. Hey, I get to laugh at all the girls still trying to pull off their North Face jackets and cute hair.
The most hilarious is the guys who try to look cool by not zipping up their coat or wearing one at all. They're cool all right. hehehe....

Picture Time!
Finally. Pictures from Florida. Between 4 cameras we took over 1000 pictures, so these are only the highlights.
The long car ride home :)
The ditch...isn't it lovely.
Amazing sand castle we built.
They must not see many sand castles in FL, because people were taking pictures...
We learned dish washers can't handle liquid soap and that with mass amounts of bubbles a soap fight is too tempting to pass up.
We did some cooking...
One of the last nights we went to the Pier.

We stayed at the Gerber's the two nights we were stranded in Florida.

The last night we went to the Gottier's. He traveled to over 150 countries!
He showed us slides of Turkey, Tahiti, the China, Mongolia, and a few others.

Florida
Well, this seems a little overdue but....why not.
(Sorry, there will be no pictures :( they won't upload....)
On January 2nd seven girls piled into a mini-van and embarked upon a great adventure. Voyaging southward, the girls maintained sanity squished together for 20 hours.
yah...anyway.
That Sunday was Hannah's wedding, which was absolutely beautiful. Kendra, Ellie, Joy, Wendi, Brooke, and Larissa joined me at church. We left after the reception and drove to TN, where we stopped for the night. On Monday we went the rest of the way and picked up Britteny in Sarasota. She had flown in two days before.
We now had 8 girls in a 7 passenger van :). The person on the floor had to duck every time we saw a cop. It made driving that week never dull.
Our first full day in Florida was spent entirely at the beach. We made supper. It was amazing.
We made it to Marco Island on the second day. It will always be remembered for the bloodthirsty sea-gulls. They didn't just attack us once, no they came again, and again a third time. There were about ten of them screeching and diving at us. One tried to land on Kendra's head and three chased Wendi around for a good two minutes.
Yet another highlight of the day was the dishwasher experience. We didn't have any dish soap for the dishwasher, and we had a ton of dishes. So, Ellie told me to put some of the liquid soap in. Um. I knew what could happen, so I put in a very small amount. Well, obviously my idea of very small is still more than enough. We had soapsuds and water all over the floor.
Ellie's grandparents took us out to eat Thursday. It was a really nice restaurant with amazing food. I had lobster bisque. I think it was the best soup I've ever had. We went back to their condo for dessert and games. Her grandparents are hilarious.
Friday and Saturday were both beach days. :)....
Sunday we packed up and said goodbye to our little house. We were planning on leaving after church but the weather up north was going to be bad sooo, we decided to stay a few more days. There are worse places to be stuck than Florida.
We had nowhere to stay but, in a church populated by the older generation, you don't stay homeless for long. They practically fought over who got us overnight, who had us for breakfast, and who got to have us over for spaghetti.
In the end Ed and Bev split us with Don and Velma overnight, and the Gottiers had us over for supper. That is where we stumbled across a suit of armor. :) many pictures followed.
Tuesday morning we woke up early and finally ventured on home. All was going well until we passed through Atlanta. The rest is history...:)

Quite the Adventure
Yes, this past week has been quite...awsome/interesting.
Right now I'm sitting in a hotel in Nashville, TN. I spent a week in Florida with 7 other girls. A huge snow and ice storm has kept us from traveling back home for two days now.
The week its self has been absolutely amazing, and I love all the girls to death. The weather was more beautiful than I could have ever asked for. I'll update more on Florida later.
We were suppose to leave Sunday night and make it home by Monday evening. Because of the weather we spent two more days in Florida with Ellie's grandparents and a couple from Rockville, Connecticut. This morning at 4am we left Fort Meyers. The roads were clear until we got to Atlanta. I was driving. Yay. Why did I say I could keep going?
The road was covered in about 3-4 inches of ice and slush. I did fine until the road suddenly was no longer plowed in front of me. I slowed down and started to move across interstate into a clear lane. Then I hit very deep section of slush. The van spun around and slid into the ditch facing the opposite direction. The entire van full of girls were screaming. When we came to a rest the van was nicely stuck in mud and snow. The EMT's, Firetrucks, two police cars and a tow truck showed up in less then 5 minutes. We were perfectly fine so the EMT's and firetrucks left. I felt horrible and stupid. The driver of the tow truck said that in that same quarter mile stretch of road he had pulled 105 people out of the ditch in the past 48 hours. I think Atlanta needs to invest in a snow plow.
After an hour we were on the road again. But now we have stopped for the night. I'm glad...I'm still shaking. I stayed calm through the whole thing, even while the van was sliding, but a few minutes after everyone else calmed down I guess the adrenaline wore off.
We hope to make it home by tomorrow afternoon.So... we are hanging out in the hotel right now. It was an awesome trip but I can't wait to be home.
Even though today was a crazy day God has protected us this whole trip.

Goodbye 2010
Wow. Its been a whole year already.
I have been so blessed over the past year. God got me through my first year of SW and continues to open doors for me. I have so much to be thankful for. Over the past year my eyes have been opened, yet again, to how much I have been given.
There have, of course, been ups and downs...but last year was amazing.
I finished my first year at ICC, went to the BWCA, took a trip to California, and started a blog :). I also began sponsoring an 18 year old girl in India through Compassion. Her name is Revathy and she is amazing to write to.
Anyway...life is great. To begin 2011 I'm taking a week long trip to Florida! I'm super excited :).
I worked until 8 tonight. The residents at the home go to bed early so Laverna and I made party hats and counted down to 7:05. Then, we shouted 'happy New Year's' and rang bells. Needless to say we got funny looks from families. Oh, well. Laverna had fun.
We had the yg in tonight. Following tradition, we sang in the new year. It wasn't the best turn out but it was a great night anyway.
A lot can happen in a year. :) ... I can't wait to see. Good or bad God is in control. It will be a beautiful year no matter what.
