Breakfast

Once again...its a little late.


After the camp out our apartment inherited two dozen eggs, and we knew we wouldn't ever be able to use them all. So, Sunday morning we had a yg breakfast.  It was a weekend, and normally there wouldn't be many people still around, so we suggested holding it at the upper room.


By the time we invited everyone, 17 people had RSVPed that they were coming.

Laura and I went on a quick grocery run at 8:00, and then stayed up late watching a Jane Austen while making two egg casseroles.

Sunday morning we had a little bit of stress. The upper room only has 6 spoons and we were completely out of toilet paper. Laura had to run to the store again.
Shaker showed up with chairs. It was Jake's first time seeing my apartment. I think he was impressed. ;)

Breakfast itself went really well and we made it to church on time.

Sunday afternoon I helped out at the Forgotten Initiative picnic. I was in charge of a bunch of little 3-year-olds. They were quite crazy but it was a lot of fun.

It Builds Charactor

Friday night was the yg camping trip with the Sunday school. We went to Kickapoo state park which is about a half hour from Champaign.

We played a really fun game of capture the flag. It got so dark though that no one could find the flags or tell who was on their team. :) I felt like a kid again, sneaking around. Yup, we are college students. :)

It didn't start really raining until later in the evening, but everything was already wet from that morning. It pretty much rained most of the night. I stayed somewhat dry inside the tent, but there were a few holes in the roof so my clothes and such got soaked. None of the guy's tents had that problem.

Trying to pack up the tents in the rain was interesting. We had to dump water out of  some of them before we could fold them. So, we left Kickapoo early and drove back to church... where it was warm and sunny.

I wish I would have taken a picture. We covered our cars in sleeping bag, hoodies, skirts, and pillows and I opened our tent back up and laid it out to dry. We looked like a hobo camp. :) We had a picnic under the carport and played games in the grass until the parents came for their kids.

Despite the rain I had a great time.  As I explained to someone in church...I owe it to the many times my dad would take us camping and it would rain...or even snow. (don't forget to pack one long sleeve shirt just in case it gets cold!)  Ah, yes those lovely character building experiences.

Eye-yiyi

About two weeks ago my eye was really red and itchy but everyone thought it didn't look too bad. So, I waited to see what would happen. No surprise to me...it got worse. yay. I quit wearing my contacts and last night I could barely keep my eyes open it hurt so bad. :P

Today, I braved Mckinley.  I called, set up an appointment and found my way there.  So, there I am waiting in the room for my doctor to show up. I look up as the door opens to hear my doctor say "Well! don't you look elegant and collegiate!" um...haha. :) What am I supposed to say to that.  He began by asking why I was there. My eye. He got up, went out of the room, and I hear him down the hall kicking someone out of an exam room. The reason- it was darker and he needed to shine a blue light in my eye, after he dyed it yellow, of course.  It turns out my eye is not scratched.

I have pink eye. *cough* I told you so *cough*

It took a total of 30 min, a really quirky doctor, and five dollars, and I was out the door with my prescription in hand. Mckinley may look scary by I think I like it. :)

I have to put drops in my eyes every four hours and my roommate is scared of me...but hey, I might be able to concentrate in class now. :)

Baby Shower

I hosted a baby shower on Saturday. It was great fun. :) I think the decor and food were hits.

Jenny's rocking chair...I didn't like it at first but after discussion, it grew on me.

I think the baby was properly showered, and all had a good time. There were no silly/somewhat awkward games, or stories. yay. I didn't have to endure any embarrassment.

So, after the shower I relaxed at home for the first time in ages.

Sunday morning, after a lot of indecisiveness, I drove to Champaign and picked up Jake and drove on to Cissna Park. A little out of the way, maybe, but it was a really good day. And...now I only have one church to go before I've visited all the Illinois AC churches! :) Who wants to go to Chicago!?

This week is going to be wild. I have a lot to do, and no motivation with which to do it.

Puppy

I love puppy chow :) So, I made some last night. Ahh...it sooo good.

Oh, and our neighbors just got a puppy. It's really cute, but it barks a lot.

Meet Me Under the Clock

This weekend Matt and I went to Kansas City to visit Scott and Ned. (There were more of us originally but they panzed out)

We got there late Friday night, but we still beat Ned home from school.
Saturday we were shown the sights of down town Kansas City.

The WWI museum was amazing. To get into the museum we had to walk across a glass bridge. Down below was a field of poppies. I couldn't help but hum "Flanders Field." :) And there was an exhibit on the flying aces...and of course I got the oldie "snoopy and the red baron" stuck in my head. I really like museums.

After the WWI museum we headed out to lunch. I ate a huge but wonderful coney-island hot dog.

Next on the list of must see sights, they showed us around the Plaza.

We didn't do much because we were forced to ride out the storm in a book store. I think the rain may have stopped long before we left the store. :)

Saturday night we went to a singing with the kcyg. Kami and Amor were there. They are hilarious. :) It came with no surprise that we didn't go straight to bed after we got back. Instead, the boys taught me how to play spades. woohoo! :) I now know more than one card game. Poor Scott had to be my partner and we lost.

Sunday, we went to church and then we hit the road. After about 6.5 hours of driving we arrived home...and I left for U of I.

It was such a fun and blessed weekend...now, hello reality.

Week 3

This week went so fast.

Last weekend was a yg invite in Oakville. It was great. :) There was a whole lot of singing, a lot more of eating, and a good deal of laughing.

Monday I slept in and headed back down to Champaign. Tuesday. Oh, yes. I forgot. Tuesday was an interesting day.

I had to go to class early to start working with my group on a project. We have to videotape ourselves working with fake clients. It was so embarrassing. At one point I was supposed to play the part of a patient suffering from depression...I was grinning at the camera, and when I realized it I burst out laughing. yah. It's on tape.

My Tuesday classes don't get out until 5:00 and I had a new student FYCARE meeting at 7:00. :P FYCARE is the biggest waist of time and tuition money.  Two things I learned: "When you are drunk, at a party, never go up to a guys room alone" and "never walk home alone."  Arg! the first one is assuming I'd go to a party and then that I'd get drunk...yeah... And, the second one, hehe, after FYCARE was over I walked home alone...in the dark! gasp!

Wednesday I didn't go to Perkins and was quickly labeled a panz.

Today went well. Laura and I made supper. It was really yummy. :)

And...Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!! :)
